DARLENE EASONMy introduction to clay as a child happened in the warmth of summer days at Mt. Hope Pond where gentle waves lapped upon the sand and uncovered this moldable treasure to me for the very first time. But it wasn't until years later while taking an elective college course in ceramics that the entire course of my life shifted.
Clay-work enraptured me as I learned about and explored the transformative properties and processes of the clay. Now, after 25 years of creating, demonstrating and teaching, I am still fascinated with it's formability, versatility & beauty and I love sharing it with others. I enjoy it all: wheel work, hand building, pinching, pulling, coils, slabs, texture, form, shadow, light, color, glaze, stain, and the restraint of just enough. I enjoy seeing how far this natural wonder will let me take it and I'm in awe of where it has taken me! |
